ST. LOUIS (BaseballStL) – Yadier Molina has not hit many infield singles but that is exactly what he did to reach 1,000 hits for his career on Tuesday night.
Molina hit a ground ball to the hole between third and short and was called safe when the Mets first baseman’s foot was not on the base.
All 1,000 hits have come during his nine-year career with the Cardinals. Molina has proven himself to be one of the greatest catchers in Cardinals history winning four Gold Gloves and being a four-time All-Star.
This season, Molina is hitting .324 with 17 home runs and 63 RBIs. He ranks fourth in the National League in batting average.
