ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- MoDOT is preparing to re-open westbound lanes and ramps on Interstate 64, but crews will have to enforce intermittent closures on the interstate to remove barriers.
Crews will close all lanes of westbound I-64 between the I-44/I-55 ramp and Jefferson Avenue at 8:30 p.m. to remove the barrier on the interstate.
In addition they will also close two lanes on eastbound I-64 to put barriers around the center lane. The detour for the closures is Jefferson and I-44.
MoDOT is hoping to finish the work by 5 a.m. Wednesday, but if they are unable to do so they have planned another closure for Wednesday evening at the same time.
Also starting Wednesday, the center lane on eastbound I-64 will be closed around the clock. Only one lane will be open on eastbound I-64 between 8 p.m. and 2 p.m. Thursday. Two lanes will be open on eastbound I-64 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
The Forest Park Avenue ramp to eastbound I-63 will be closed until November 1.
By Thursday morning, all westbound lanes on I-64 will be open. By Friday morning, all westbound ramps onto I-64 will be open. There will still be periodic lane closures on westbound I-64 through November. In addition, there are two more full westbound closures scheduled for weekends in September to complete work on the westbound I-64 double deck structure.
