HOUSTON—A 24-year-old Magnolia man convicted of sexually assaulting his girlfriend’s daughter and giving her herpes was given a lengthy prison sentence.
Erik Medrano was arrested on May 4 and charged with super-aggravated sexual assault of a child. Police said Medrano assaulted the little girl at a Super 8 Motel.
According to court documents, the 4-year-old victim complained of pain to her grandmother, who then reported the alleged assault to police.
When investigators interviewed the girl, she told them she was assaulted by Medrano in a “small room by a pool.” Investigators later determined that the room was a unit at a Super 8 on Keefer Street in Tomball.
When investigators interviewed Medrano, they said he admitted to spending time with the victim and her sister at the motel, but insisted that he didn’t touch them.
Investigators said Medrano also denied having herpes, but he tested positive for the virus when he submitted to a blood test.
Medrano was sentenced to serve 50 years in prison. His lawyer is appealing the ruling.
