ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Emergency crews responded to the scene of a multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 44 in south St. Louis Tuesday morning.
According to reports, the accident happened around 7:30 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-44 near the Arsenal overpass.
Ambulances were called to the scene, but the extent of any injuries is unknown.
Police closed multiple lanes of the interstate to accommodate emergency vehicles during the clean up effort. Traffic was backed up for miles.
All lanes have since reopened, but there is nearby construction and drivers are urged to be cautious when passing through the area.
