Man wounded while driving away from gun toting suspect

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – One person was wounded while driving away from an armed man in north St. Louis city Monday morning.

Police said the incident happened around 12:30 a.m. in the 1400 block of North 14th Street.

According to reports, a 35-year-old man and 26-year-old woman were in their vehicle when the suspect approached them.  The suspect, described as a 32-year-old black male, asked the woman to get out of the vehicle.  She refused and the suspect pulled out a gun.

The victims then drove away from the scene and the suspect started shooting.  The man in the vehicle suffered a gunshot wound to the elbow.  The woman was able to drive him to a local hospital where he received treatment.

Police said the suspect in known to the female victim.  Police did not say if they have made any arrests.

The shooting is under investigation.
