Navy seaman killed in helicopter crash brought home to St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- The body of a Navy sailor has arrived home at Lambert Airport in St. Louis Monday.

The U.S Navy says Senior Chief Aviation Warfare Systems Operator Sean P. Sullivan, 40, died in a helicopter crash Thursday in the Arabian peninsula nation of Oman. He died along with Naval Aircrewman 2nd Class Joesph P. Fitzmorris, 31. The helicopter Sullivan and Fitzmorris were riding in crashed 58 miles southwest of the Omani capital.

The Navy is still investigating the crash and say no hostile activity was suspected.

Sullivan was from St. Louis and was a 1990 graduate of Lindbergh High School. He was a forth generation sailor in his family and entered the Navy in 1991. Sullivan earned himself many personal awards including the Air Medal.

Sullivan's funeral will be held at Kutis Affton Chapel on Gravois at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Flags will be at half-mast from August 2 until August 7 in Sullivan's honor.
