HOUSTON –Houston police are searching for a suspect who fatally stabbed a young mother in north Houston early Monday.
One frightened child, a 3-year-old, was found hiding in a closet, while an 8-month-old baby was near the mother's dead body.
The 27-year-old woman was found stabbed to death in the 5600 block of Yale near Tidwell around 12:30 a.m.
Police said the young children may have witnessed their mother’s murder. The older child sustained some sort of bump on the head, but it was not known if the person who killed the mom harmed the child. The child was taken to the hospital as a precaution, but is expected to be physically OK. The other child was not harmed.
No suspects were named, but police later found the victim's boyfriend at a nearby gas station and took him in for questioning.
Upset family members gathered outside the woman's apartment as the sun rose Monday. One family member was overcome with emotion and passed out as the woman's body was removed from the home.
