VALLEY PARK, Mo (KMOV.com) – Embattled Mayor Nathan Grellner has resigned in the wake of a long list of allegations.
Grellner met with acting city attorney Tim Englemeyer around 6 p.m. Thursday night to sign his resignation letter.
This comes a day before he was set to meet with a special prosecutor in regards to his alleged conduct.
Grellner was accused of spitting on an officer during an alleged DUI traffic stop. Later, he admitting using the city credit card at a strip club and for other personal expenses. Grellner eventually repaid the money to the city.
Recently the Valley Park Board of Aldermen called for a special investigation into Grellner’s conduct, along with City Attorney Eric Martin, in regards to the credit card issue.
The letter was read aloud at the Aldermanic meeting Thursday night and was unanimously accepted by the board.
The board had discusses impeachment pending the outcome of the investigation. In the letter, Grellner spoke about his personal issues becoming a distraction for the city he loves.
The board will continue the investigation into Grellner and Martin.
