Rams, Jenkins agree to deal prior to training camp

ST. LOUIS (FootballStL) -- The St. Louis Rams and the team’s second round pick Janoris Jenkins have agreed to a four-year deal worth about $5 million ($3.1 million guaranteed), according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Jenkins, who has had his share of off-the-field issues in college, was reportedly at a disagreement with the Rams about gradual payment of his signing bonus, according to Yahoo!’s Jason Cole

In 2011, Jenkins was kicked off the Florida Gators football team after multiple arrests for marijuana possession; he would transfer to North Alabama (Division II) where he reportedly had more problems relating to drugs.

Despite the off-the-field issues, the Rams selected Jenkins with the No. 39 overall pick in this year’s draft and will look for him to become a playmaker at the cornerback position.

The team’s third round pick, Trumaine Johnson, also agreed to terms on a contract.  All rookies are currently under contract and will report to Rams Camp on Wednesday.
