LIVINGSTON, Ill. (KMOV) – Police say a body found in Montgomery County has been identified as a Livingston man who had been missing since late June.
According to deputies, officers received a call of a body being found near the intersection of Niemanville Trace and Bodner Avenue around 8:24 a.m.
Deputies recovered the body and later identified it as 38-year-old Christopher Kostadin.
Authorities said Kostadin had not been seen since June 21 around 12:30 p.m.
A resident of the 12000 block of Leuscher Road in Bond County reportedly aided Kostadin during the late evening hours of June 21 after his vehicle ran out of gas. Kostadin reportedly asked the resident for food and water.
Deputies said his body was located just a few miles from where his vehicle was found abandonded on Hughes Road near North 1st Avenue in Sorento, Illinois on June 22.
Deputies with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Livingston Police Department searched the area where Kostadin’s vehicle was found, but were unable to locate him.
Authorities said no evidence suggested crime played a role in Kostadin's death.
The county coroner continues to investigate.
