ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – Officials say a 64-year-old man found dead in his home earlier this month marks the first heat-related death in St. Charles County this year.
According to county officials, the man was discovered in his mobile home on July 7. Officials said he lived alone and reportedly had his air conditioning removed because it was too expensive.
A total of 24 people have now died in the area since the heat spell began on June 27. St. Louis has seen 17 deaths. St. Louis County has reported three, Madison County has seen two and one has died in both St. Clair County and St. Charles County.
