DIX, Ill. (KMOV.com) -- A Granite City family is grieving after a young girl accidentally shot and killed her older brother Saturday afternoon.
Authorities say the family was visiting relatives near Dix, Illinois, about 90 miles east of St. Louis, when the shooting happened.
Christian Clark, 10, and his seven-year-old sister were reportedly playing alone in their grandfather’s RV around 3:30 p.m. when the two found a loaded gun. According to police, the young girl accidentally fired the weapon, killing Christian.
Officials said the childrens’ grandfather used the RV for hunting trips.
Police have called the shooting a “tragic accident.”
