RED BUD, Ill. (KMOV.com) -- A head-on collision killed a family of three and injured two others in rural Monroe County Saturday night.

Illinois State Police say a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix and a 2002 Ford Econoline collided on Route 3 between Crook and Ll Roads around 11 p.m.

Officials say the Grand Prix was traveling southbound and the Econoline was heading northbound when the Grand Prix drifted into the opposite lane, hitting the Econoline head on.

The Monroe County Coroner said the family in the Grand Prix, Steven Brickeen Jr., 29, Tiffaine Brickeen, 29, and Mary Jane Brickeen, 4, were all killed by blunt-force trauma in the accident.

According to the coroner, the three victims killed in the crash were all wearing seat belts.

The driver of the Econoline, Stephen Wilkes, 44, was airlifted to St. Louis University Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The passenger, Timothy Gaeng, 45, was taken to St. Anthony's Hospital by ambulance with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
