Metro East officer accused of lying about receiving sex act while on duty

EAST ST. LOUIS, Il (KMOV.com) -- A former East St. Louis police officer has been indicted for recieving a sex act while on duty.

Aaccording to the indictment, Ramon Carpenter, 40, lied about being present in Jones Park during his shift and falsely denied receiving oral sex.

Carpenter was allegedly present with another officer when pulling over a female driver near the intersection of Louisiana Blvd. and 25th Street in East St. Louis on May 8.

The report says the driver was intoxicated and driving with open liquor.

The driver claims she was driven to a secluded area in Jones Park and felt that she had to perform oral sex on the officer to avoid a trip to jail.

Making false statements to a federal law enforcement officer warrants a punishment of five years incarceration, a $250,000 fine and not more than three-year supervised release upon jail release.
