(KMOV.com) -- The American Red Cross hopes they won't be forgotten now that the holiday season is over.
Donated blood has a shelf-life of approximately 42 days and the need for donations remains high year round.
A new concern for the Red Cross is flu season, which has reached epidemic levels in both Missouri and Illinois. The flu season means that the Red Cross could use every healthy person it can get for donations.
There will be blood donation centers open Saturday and Sunday in both West County and South County.
