BUNKER HILL, Ill. (KMOV.com) – Police said 34-year-old Cody Adams, of Woodburn, Illinois, was killed after a struggle with an intruder inside a Bunker Hill home Thursday morning.

Authorities said the incident occurred around 6:15 a.m. Thursday in the 3000 block of Edwardsville Street. Police said an intruder, who was wearing a mask, entered the house before getting into a struggle with Adams over a gun. The suspect then shot Adams.

“We feel it’s an isolated incident, we don’t feel like any neighbors or Macoupin County residents are in any kind of danger or harm,” said Sheriff Shawn Kaul. “But we are asking people to keep their doors locked, but we feel this is isolated.”

Police said three other people were in the house at the time of the shooting.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Macoupin County Sheriff’s Department.
