MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. - A Maryland Heights man is facing charges for felony attempted enticement of a child and furnishing pornographic materials to minors, a misdemeanor.
Stephen Watters, 29, was believed to have taken part in illegal activity involving minors through the use of social media. Detectives set up a profile on the website in attempt to attract Watters.
Watters then initiated contact with the profile, believing it to be that of a 13 year-old female. His profile listed his first name, age, location and contained his photograph, according to court documents.
On Nov. 18, 2013, Watters made arrangements via text message to meet with what he thought was the 13 year-old girl in order to have sexual relations in exchange for an IPhone. Watters also sent an inappropriate photograph via email to the profile, police said.
During an interview with detectives, Watters admitted to the communications he had with the profile he believed to belong to a 13 year-old female, that he and "Alyssa" had made arrangements to meet.
