ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) - A recount to ensure that every vote was counted in the County Executive race has resulted in confirmation that Democrat Steve Stenger defeated Republican Rick Stream in November's elections.
Stream's campaign released a statement Tuesday, accepting defeat and wishing County Executive-elect Stenger the best as he takes the oath of office Thursday.
Stream also stated his appreciation for the timely manner in which the recount was conducted and thanked County Executive Charley Dooley for his 36 years of serving in elected office in St. Louis County, as well as his military service.
Stream says his administration will work along with the Stenger administration and the legislature to make critical changes to improve the accuracy and integrity in future elections.
