Emergency Cold Weather Overflow Shelter to open Tuesday, Wednesday

 ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – The City of St. Louis will open the Emergency Cold Weather Overflow Shelter to accommodate homeless men, women and children two nights this week.

The shelter, which is located at the 12th and Park Rec Center, will be open on Tuesday and Wednesday from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Last winter season, the shelter was open for 51 nights and served an average of 126 people per night.

The shelter is provided by the city as part of a cooperative project supported by the American Red Cross, The Bridge, Metro, Salvation Army, St. Louis Crisis Nursery, Americorps, City of St. Louis Fire Department, St. Louis Winter Outreach Team and Windsor Transitional House.
