ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- A Lincoln County man is facing domestic assault charges after an argument broke out about women in the man's life.
Police said early Tuesday morning William McMahan, 26, was approached by a 23-year-old woman and asked about other women in his life. During that conversation, the woman told police McMahan started yelling at her and began choking her.
Police said the woman twice tried to escape, but was unsuccessful both times.
Moments later, the woman reported McMahan retrieved his crossbow, loaded it and threatened to shoot the woman. McMahan fired the crossbow, resulting in the arrow becoming lodged in the wall next to the victim. The woman was able to escape when deputies arrived.
The victim's sister and a young child were also assaulted during the incident, police said.
McMahan is currently housed in the Lincoln County jail and charged with Felony Domestic Assault in the First Degree, Domestic Assault in the Second Degree, Felony Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Felonious Restraint and Misdemeanor Assault.
