(KMOV.com) – Police are searching for a man who they believe is responsible for at least five home beak-ins in rural parts of the Metro East.
Police said they are searching for 22-year-old Kohl Bertels. Authorities said the latest break-in occurred Friday in rural Madison County. Sherri Tarrant said the suspect broke into her home while her daughter was home alone and unaware of what was taking place.
“I walked into my room and all the drawers from my big jewelry cabinet were gone,” said Tarrant. “I was upset it was inherited stuff and stuff my husband bought over 30 years.”
Nobody was injured. Authorities believe Bertels is responsible for five break-ins since November.
“Sadness at first and then more you think about it, you’re angry because somebody has been into your house,” said Tarrant.
Another victim, Willie Townzen, had a 100 plus pound generator taken from his garage.
“It bothers you to think somebody’s casing you when you’re not here.
