Off-duty cop rescues choking boy

(KMOV.com) -- The body camera of a Nevada police officer captured the crucial moments as he saved the life of a choking boy.

While driving home after work, the officer heard an emergency call from a gas station where a three-year-old was choking on a piece of candy.

Surveillance from the store captured the officer moving into action to dislodge the candy from the boy's throat.

The mother did not get a chance to thank the police officer who saved her son's life that day, but was able to express her gratitude on a visit to his police station.

"He just walked out and I just hugged him and I started crying. I am so thankful for him, because I don't know what I would have done," said the boy's mother.

The boy is doing fine and his mom says she plans to keep him away from candy.
