3 Rescued by off-duty firefighters

ST. LOUIS (KMOV) -- Three people were rescued when off-duty firefighters on their way to work passed by a crash and brought them to safety.

Fire officials report that a Chevrolet Impala was traveling northbound on N. Broadway. When the vehicle entered the intersection at Humboldt Avenue, it struck the concrete base of the electrical signal on the northeast corner.

As the vehicle caught fire, the firefighters came upon the accident and removed the occupants from the vehicle. 

The driver of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in critcal, unstable condition. The front seat passenger is listed in critical condition and the back seat passenger is reported to be stable.
