TOWER GROVE, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A new crime trend is developing in Tower Grove as residents say they have had packages stolen from their doorsteps.

One of the victims, Jodie Timebrook, says she received an email from Amazon that her present was delivered, but she was frustrated to find it was stolen.

“It was an expensive gift,” Timebrook said. “I don’t want to say what it is because I don’t want my mom to find out since I bought it again, but yeah, it stinks.”

UPS says package thefts in the St. Louis area are rare, but customers should have shipments sent to where they work if they are not home during the day. If that’s not an option, UPS says the customer should notify them to drop off the package in the back of the house or out of sight from thieves looking for an easy target.
