Former Ferguson judge quits jobs as prosecutor in other municipalities

FERGUSON, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

A Ferguson municipal judge who stepped down after a Justice Department report found that the court was driven by profit at the expense of blacks and the poor has resigned as prosecutor in two other St. Louis suburbs.

Ronald Brockmeyer resigned Thursday from his jobs as prosecutor in Vinita Park and Florissant.

Brockmeyer resigned Monday from the Ferguson municipal court. That came just days after the Justice Department sharply questioned Ferguson's court practices and found racial profiling in the city's police force.

A Missouri appellate judge has been tapped to replace Brockmeyer and overhaul the local court system.

The Justice Department's report was part of the government's investigation of Ferguson's operations since the Ferguson police shooting death last August of 18-year-old Michael Brown.
