WELLSTON, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A man wanted for kidnapping and domestic assault, 28-year-old Maurice Baylark, has been arrested by Wellston Police.

Wellston Police say the incident started around 4:00 p.m. when they received information from a woman’s teenage daughter regarding possible domestic violence at her family’s home in the 1600 block of Glenchort.

When police arrived to investigate the claim, no one was at the residence so officers began tracking the woman’s cell phone.

Around 7:30 p.m. the woman’s car was located in the 2200 block of South Grand in South City. When they went to pull it over, police discovered the man in the car, described as the woman’s husband, had fled moments earlier.

The woman told police her husband broke into her home and assaulted her before threatening to kill her. She then said he forced her into the car to pick up her 3-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son from school.

The woman told police the incident stemmed from her husband thinking she was having an affair.

The woman and her children were safe following the incident.
