ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – One person was killed and two officers were injured after a police car collided with an ATV on North Kingshighway at Highland around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Police were traveling southbound on Kingshighway when an ATV driven by 46-year-old Leo Blackmon Jr.  crossed into the path of the police vehicle. According to a witness, the ATV was traveling at a high rate of speed. The officers, who were responding to a disturbance call, did not have their emergency lights or siren on because it was not a "priority 1" call, police said Sunday.

"When we got there, Leo was already dead," said Laroyce Blackmon, Leo's mother.

Blackmon was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The two officers were also transported, but only suffered minor injuries.

Police report that three ATVs were traveling westbound on Highland and one continued onto Kingshighway, striking the police Tahoe.

The other two ATV drivers did not stay on scene, but police are wanting to speak with them.

The investigation will use the black box in the police unit and other factors to determine vehicle speed.

Neighbors have complained of constant problems with ATVs in the area.
