ST. LOUIS (BaseballStL) – The St. Louis Cardinals and its fans were blessed with an appearance from Stan ‘The Man’ Musial prior to Game 4 of the NLCS.
It was a special moment for the fans in attendance to see Mr. Musial, who has trimmed back his appearances in recent years.
“Normally when I'm doing my pre-game warmup I don't really pay attention to anything that's going on,” Game 4 starter Adam Wainwright said. “But I stopped and made sure I clapped and acknowledged Stan The Man. What a huge figure in this town and this city and for the sport of baseball. And I have so much respect for what he did here.”
Mr. Musial posted a .331 batting average, hit 475 home runs and collected 3,630 hits in his 22-year career, all with the Cardinals.
