EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com) – An Edwardsville home is considered a total loss after a fire late Wednesday night.
Fire officials said firefighters got the call to respond to the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Seminole Street around 11:55 p.m.
When firefighters arrived, they reported the fire was pretty intense. Fire crews from Edwardsville, Collinsville and Wood River responded.
Fire officials said the fire likely started 10 to 15 minutes before anyone called to report it. Crews said the fire likely started on the back porch and nobody saw it until it intensified.
Nobody was in the home at the time of the fire and authorities have not yet determined if the home was occupied or vacant.
According to reports, there was a home nearby, but officials did not say if that home suffered any damage.
Firefighters managed to get the blaze under control early Thursday morning. The home is considered a total loss due to smoke and fire damage.
No firefighters were injured.
The cause of the the fire has not yet been determined.
