ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) - The St. Louis police board is moving closer to selecting a new police chief.
The board is in the process of picking a replacement for the current chief, Dan Isom, who is leaving at the end of 2012 to take a teaching post.
The board is using consultants to conduct psychological evaluations and background checks. The University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) is helping to formulate the questions. The board is also gathering feedback from both the community and officers inside the department.
October 26 is the deadline to apply for the position. Twenty-two people in the department are eligible for the post.
