BRENTWOOD, Mo. (KMOV) -- The Brentwood Public Library has pulled a controversial book from its shelves while it decides whether to permanently remove it from the library.

The book is called Uncle Bobby’s Wedding and tells the story of two male guinea pigs who get married.

Brentwood resident James Vandervoort complained about the book after his daughter brought it home from the library.

Brentwood Library Director Vicki Woods said the father complained the book promoted homosexuality to children and asked that it be permanently removed from the library.

Uncle Bobby’s Wedding has been in the library’s collection since 2008. According to the library, this is the first time there’s been a complaint about it.

The library’s board will decide at its November 12 meeting whether to grant the parent’s request or keep the children’s book in the library.
