ST. LOUIS (KMOV) -- The St. Louis Police Department hopes a new substation will help cut down on crime.
More than 26 police officers will be coming in and out of the building located on the corner of Juniata in the Tower Grove South neighborhood.
The goal is to give officers a nearby place to write up reports and perform other police duties faster.
Neighbors who live near Tower Grove Park think it will make a difference.
“I’m glad we got officers here making sure everything is fine, making sure no break-ins happen, just keeping it safe,” said Shaniece Harris. “Because the world is, it’s getting dangerous out here.”
Police said a key part of cutting down on crime in the area is getting neighbors involved so witnesses and victims cooperate with police.
