Tigers drop against Alabama in rain-soaked game

COLUMBIA, Mo. (Missouri Football App) -- Even the unbreakable Alabama defense couldn’t break the rain on Saturday at Faurot Field as the #1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide cruised to an easy 42-10 win against the Missouri Tigers.

Mizzou, now 3-4 overall and winless in four attempts against Southeastern Conference teams since joining the conference over the summer, was no match for Alabama’s talented group of players.

If there’s been any bright spot for Mizzou in 2012, it’s been a decently solid defense.  Anchored by junior defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson, the defense has been okay through the first 7 games of 2012.  However, Alabama gained 362 yards rushing.  The rain was a huge factor.  The field was soaked after just one quarter of play.  There was a 38-minute lightning delay midway through the 2nd quarter.

Not many people had high expectations for Mizzou going into this game with the #1 ranked team, but several fans are showing signs of dismay.

Many students are “throwing in the towel” this season as several Facebook statuses advertised two home tickets for sale for the remaining home games.  One of the two games remaining at home includes the Homecoming game against Kentucky on October 27.

The injured and tired Tigers get a much-needed bye-week this week.  With no game on Saturday, the team hopes to get some of its injured starters healthy and back on the field before playing Kentucky.
