ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Police in St. Louis say a man has died after being hit by a pickup truck on Interstate 70 after he checked on people in a car involved in another accident.

Police say 54-year-old Reginald Lee had been involved in one of several accidents that occurred within minutes of each other around 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

Lee was unhurt and got out of his vehicle to check on the occupants of a car involved in another accident. He was returning to his vehicle when a pickup truck when out of control and struck him.

He was later pronounced dead at a St. Louis hospital.

Police say it does not appear other factors contributed to the incident, but toxicology tests will be done to ensure that the driver was not under the influence.
