COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) -- The two Missouri women's basketball players suspended after an off-campus fight with a male cheerleader are back on the team.
The school announced Thursday that the one-week suspension of seniors Amanda Hanneman and Jessra Johnson has been lifted. They can start practicing Friday but won't play in Missouri's game Monday against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
The move comes one day after Boone County prosecutors said they will not pursue criminal charges in the case. The pair were arrested on Dec. 11 on suspicion of misdemeanor assault after Tiger cheerleader Justin Short said he was beaten up at his off-campus apartment following an early morning bar visit.
Johnson and Hanneman told police they were defending a female friend being physically restrained by Short. He later urged prosecutors to not file criminal charges.
