Governor Jay Nixon wants to take a portion of the growth in state revenue from some Missouri science and innovation companies to fund efforts to lure more biotech jobs to Missouri. He announced his plan, called the Missouri Science and Innovation Reinvestment Act, at the BioResearch and Development Growth Park at the Danforth Plant Science Center. The Park itself is expanding. Two more buildings are being added creating a thousand new jobs. Companies there are working on a myriad of projects from creating sustainable fuels to drought resistant crops. The latter technology is being given gratis to Africa thanks to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Interesting research that many St. Louisans have no idea is underway right here at home.
