After 95 incredible years, CID – Central Institute for the Deaf continues to serve children who are deaf and hard of hearing, teaching them to listen and talk without using sign language. Teachers work with students in small ability-based groups where each child learns at their own pace with a curriculum that is tailored to his or her specific needs. CID’s intensive program focuses on language so that students can learn to communicate to their fullest potential and eventually return to mainstream schools with their hearing peers. The results are extraordinary!
The CID Outreach Committee (COC) is a group of young professionals who are emerging leaders in the St. Louis business community. As committee members, these individuals help raise awareness and support for Central Institute for the Deaf through volunteering and networking opportunities. In turn, CID provides the opportunity for them to develop their philanthropic vision, to connect with people and a cause that has personal resonance, and to lend their expertise to the growth and future of CID. Committee members can connect with CID in a variety of ways including reading to the kids as a Book Buddy, organize and plan the annual Trivia Night and assist with other school events.
