FEMA and representatives from the National Flood Insurance Program are touring the Metro-East to unveil newly redrawn flood maps that would change flood insurance requirements for some homeowners in Madison, St. Clair, and Monroe counties.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers determined that levees in the metro-east are no longer adequate which expands the number of homeowners and businesses with a federally backed mortgage that would have to buy flood insurance.
Some of you who may live in a home that has never flooded may soon be added to a list of homes in a high risk flood zone.
