EDWARDSVILLE- Last week Southern Illinois University Edwarsville officials took another step toward rebuilding an eight-unit apartment complex that was destroyed by a fire on Aug. 17.
The Southern Illinois University Board of Trustees on Thursday gave authorization to the board’s executive committee to award contracts for replacing 529 Cougar Village.
Loss from the fire was estimated at $1.6 million. The full board approved the project and budget at its September meeting, according to a news release from SIUE.
The board gave the executive committee authorization at its regular meeting in Carbondale.
