ALORTON, Ill. (AP) -- The teenage son of a southern Illinois mayor is accused of killing two men after he escaped from electronic monitoring by the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Randy McCallum Jr. of Fairview Heights is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the September shootings. He's being held on $2 million bail.

Illinois State Police say McCallum is the son of Alorton Mayor Randy McCallum.

It wasn't immediately clear who the younger McCallum is being represented by. Calls to the mayor's office rang unanswered Friday evening.

Court documents show Randy McCallum Jr. was on electronic monitoring after being convicted as a juvenile for fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer. He's accused of escaping that monitoring in August.
