News release for St. Clair County States Attorney office
COLLINSVILLE, IL (December 11, 2009) - On Friday, December 12, 2009, the St. Clair County State Attorney's office charged Randy L. McCallum, age 19, of Fairview Heights, Illinois, with two counts of First Degree Murder for the murders of Kevin McVay, age 20, and Charles Black, age 20, both of East St. Louis.
McVay and Black were shot to death on September 18, 2009, in the 1100 block of North 48th Street, Washington Park, Illinois.
McCallum was arrested on December 8, 2009, in Lebanon, Illinois, and remains incarcerated at the St. Clair County Jail on two million dollars bond.
The murders of McVay and Black were investigated by the Illinois State Police and Washington Park Police. The public is reminded that criminal defendants are presumed innocent until the government is able to prove its charges in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
