Today, investigators arrested a 16 year old Black male suspect. The suspect, who was the driver of the Dodge Stratus, remains in Juvenile Custody and is currently being held on charges of Involuntary Manslaughter and four counts of Assault 2nd Degree. The second suspect has been identified and located but there is not sufficient evidence to warrant charges at this time.
INCIDENT: Fatal Vehicle Accident

VEHICLE #1: Dodge Stratus with 2 occupants (both fled from scene)
SUSPECT #1/DRIVER: black male, late teens, 5'5, slender build wearing a blue sweater, blue jeans and a dark skullcap
SUSPECT #2/PASSENGER: black male, late teens, 6'0, slender build, dark complexion, short hair wearing a long sleeved white shirt and blue jeans
VEHICLE #2: Pontiac Grand Am with 5 occupants
DRIVER: Lashanna Snipes, 34 year old black female of the 2000 block of Mullanphy (deceased)
PASSENGER: 35 year old black female (critical but stable)
PASSENGER: 12 year old black female (stable)
PASSENGER: 13 year old black male (stable)
PASSENGER: 17 year old black male (stable)
Vehicle #1 was being pursued by Uplands Park Police south on Goodfellow approaching Martin Luther King. Vehicle #1 ran a stop sign and struck Vehicle #2 in the intersection. The driver and passenger of Vehicle #1 then exited the vehicle and ran south on Goodfellow. The driver of Vehicle #2 was taken to an area hospital where she later died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. The passengers in the vehicle were also taken to area hospitals. The 35 year old passenger was listed in critical but stable condition and the three juvenile passengers were listed in stable condition. The investigation is ongoing.
