By the end of the year, Granite City administrators say the cases of five employees accused of various acts of misconduct with students or fellow employees should be over. Some have been fired or allowed to resign. One other is the subject of a dismissal hearing, and yet another is the target of a private investigation. I asked the Superintendent, who says this is unprecedented, why so many? He had no answer. The year is beginning with ethics training in January for employees. Such incidents aren't limited to Granite City, of course, so all parents should be vigilent and talk to their children about the adults they interact with at school.
