(KMOV)-- For the third year in a row, a mystery person dropped a pure gold coin in a Salvation Army kettle. The coin is valued at more than $115.
This time, the coin was wrapped in a $5 bill and came with a note. The sender said he or she wrapped in a $5 instead of $1 because of the recession.
Captain Randy Tooley said this has become a tradition his entire staff looks forward to. For the last 3 years, the generous donor has placed the gold coin in a kettle outside of the Wood River Walmart.
