Trial delayed for accused spree killer

GALESBURG, Ill. (AP) -- A Knox County judge has granted a 60-day delay in the start of a trial for an Illinois man accused of killing eight people during a two-state rampage.

Judge James Stewart granted a request for the delay Friday from defense attorneys for Nicholas Sheley. The time was given so expert witnesses could be found.

The 30-year-old Sheley is charged with murder in the June 2008 death of 65-year-old Ronald Randall of Galesburg. Sheley has pleaded not guilty.

Sheley is also charged with murder in five other deaths in Illinois and two in Missouri. He hasn't entered pleas in those cases.
