ST. LOUIS (AP) -- St. Louis County police say a man who tried to steal a car at gunpoint, leading to an extensive manhunt, has turned himself in.
The suspect surrendered about 8 a.m. Friday and was turned over for a mental health evaluation.
The attempted carjacking happened Thursday night near the Jefferson Barracks Medical Center in south St. Louis County. Police say the suspect had a handgun, but the driver did not give up the car.
No one was hurt, but the crime sparked a manhunt.
