KMOV - A bold armed robber targeted a woman leaving a bank.
The incident happened at the Citizen's Bank in Florissant, just after 9 a.m. Wednesday morning.
The gunman didn't hold up the tellers, instead he demanded cash from a woman who just made a withdrawl at the Citizens Bank.
Sgt. Kevin Boschert says the victim left the bank, and when she opened her car door, which was unlocked, a thief with a gun was waiting.
"He probably saw her go in and waited for her to come out that was his target," says Boschert.
The thief was sitting in the back seat and after demanding cash, he ran off.
Bank security is still reviewing the incident. Police are reminding the public to lock your car doors, especially at a place where money changes hands.
In addition, while crime can happen anytime of the year, the holiday season presents an opportunity.
"It's that time of the year, people carry a lot of cash, coming from bank facility people think you took some out," says Boschert.
The suspect is described as a black male, 5' 6", wearing a grey hoodie in his early 20's.
Police don't think this is connected to any of the armed robberies that have taken place at several St. Louis area businesses over the past couple of weeks.
