KMOV - Thousands of commuters waiting for the reopening of Highway 40 will have to put up with more inconveniences before the highway can reopen

This Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., one lane of southbound I-170 will be closed between the Galleria parkway and I-64 flyover ramp.

Friday morning, crews will close two lanes of eastbound I-64 at Mcknight Road to the Mccutcheon Bridge.

As the countdown clock winds down to next weeks' opening, things will get a little worse before they get better, as drivers find more traffic the closer they get to the new portion of the highway.

There is still more to do along the new I-64, as some parts still need concrete and landscaping is still going up. Aside from some final touches and cleaning up, though, workers say the highway is ready for its December 7th open.
