It is about 9 p.m. on Thursday. It's 36 degrees outside and the wind is biting. I'm watching cars pull into the Bass Pro Shop's parking lot in St. Charles and people get out to unload tents, food and gear.
Yep. They are the die-hards. The ones camping out to be the first through the doors of the store on Black Friday.
According to the National Retail Federation, up to 134 million people will shop this Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Last year, the survey results showed 128 million people planned to shop those days.
How many will shop early?
According to the survey, 10.3 percent of shoppers will get to the store between midnight and 3 a.m.; 28.8 percent will shop between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m.; and 28.2 percent plan to hit the stores between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m.
How many of you plan to set the alarm to shop on Friday? If so, what time?
