ST. LOUIS (KMOV) -- More than 100 entries participated in the 2009 AmerenUE St. Louis Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday morning.

St. Louis Cardinals broadcaster Mike Shannon served as grand marshal of the parade, which celebrated its 25th anniversary this year.

Giant balloons, floats and marching bands followed, and Santa Claus on his sleigh marked the end of the parade.

The Belleville East High School marching band took top honors in the parade's band competition. Windsor High School, Ritenour High School, De Soto High School, and Mater Dei Catholic High School rounded out the top five.

The parade was broadcast live on News 4, though thousands braved the cold temperatures to watch the parade in person.
